The working principle of aircraft deicing vehicles mainly consists of two methods: thermal deicing and chemical deicing, combined with mechanical auxiliary technology to achieve efficient operation
Thermal deicing system
Rapidly melt ice and snow through high-temperature gas flow or heated deicing fluid. For instance, the "gale snowplow" used at Wuhan Tianhe airport adopts turbojet engine technology. Its nozzle can generate wind force of level 10 and heat waves of 100#8451;. Only three vehicles are needed for a single runway to complete the de-icing of the runway surface at one time #8204;The boom height of the large de-icing vehicle can reach 30 meters, capable of providing services for super-large passenger aircraft such as the A380, and precisely avoiding key parts of the aircraft (such as the intake pipe of the APU) #8204; through the laser positioning system
Chemical deicing liquid spraying
The deicing vehicle heats and pressurizes the special deicing fluid and then sprays it onto the surface of the aircraft. Through the impact force, it removes ice and snow and forms an anti-icing protective layer. The operation must strictly follow the "secondary deicing" principle: if the takeoff delay exceeds the deicing fluid retention time (usually 15-30 minutes) after the first deicing, the operation must be redone #8204;
The types of deicing fluid include:
Type I #8204; (orange-red) : melts ice rapidly with a short holding time;
Youdaoplaceholder0 Type II/IV #8204; (green/amber) : contains anti-icing polymer, which can extend the protection time to several hours #8204;
