Inviata - 31/12/2018 : 07:59:39 This had been the only game of its size and scale I had access to - all it took was a dial-up internet connection and a browser window. As an additional bonus, that meant I could play it both in your home and in school. Ten years , despite cataclysmic changes and enhancements, its own distinctive brand of total access is still going strong at a world where free MMOs are trivial, and you don't have to await your parents to get off the phone to log in.
Connected: talking of free MMOs, here are a few to test out in case your Steam pocket is empty. I recently tried to log into to a very old email accounts, which I could only do by searching down an even older login for Runescape. A username can bring back a lot of memories as it occurs, especially one like g0ds1ayer94. This saga got me thinking: what is ol' Runie like these days? Fuelled by nostalgia, I created a new account and started exploring the dream world of Gielinor once more.
In the ten years I have been off, Runescape has gone from a fantasy-themed chatroom to a fully fledged MMO, complete with its own yearly festival, a card game spin off and enough material to produce 12-year-old me weak at the knees. If you can think it, you need to really download the most recent version of the game.
It's a game that's preserved many of its own players through continuous updates and unrivalled audience interaction; log off for a month and you might have missed something the community will likely be referencing for the upcoming few decades.
I logged off for ten years. In that time, Jagex have revived their outdated tutorial island, added an entirely new combat system, overhauled the whole game engine five times and stuffed the game universe with approximately 200 new quests. And those are just the largest changes: Runescape has also obtained around 650 other feature updates in that moment, not to mention countless patches and fixes which have been deployed. The simple fact that Jagex eliminated the Wilderness for 3 decades still feels like an insult into a past self - even though I wasn't playing at the time.
Returning after so much has changed is uncanny, since basically it is exactly how I remembered it in 2006. Lumbridge is still there, with its pair of Mischievous Imps still wandering the castle grounds aboard a sea of players barking the same immortal question at each other:"Will u be my gf?" Ten years has done nothing to weather this beast. Our store sells cheap RS gold click here https://www.rsgoldfast.com |
